Nutrition Counseling

The Bariatric Weight Loss Center at Northeast Georgia Medical Center offers a comprehensive program designed to maximize each individual’s weight loss. We provide the latest non-surgical and medical weight loss approaches for our patients, and we understand that all medical situations are unique. Surgery isn’t the right answer for everyone, and one treatment plan doesn’t fit all. Our multidisciplinary team dedicates itself to your success by cultivating a specific plan that fits your personal needs.

Our Services

Our team of registered dietitians are experts in helping patients meet their weight loss objectives. No matter where you’re at in your journey, we will meet you with a plan to help you achieve your goals. If you need help getting started, we will support you in taking the first step in the right direction.

Personalized Sessions

When you visit our Bariatric Weight Loss Center, one of our clinicians will walk you through an initial consultation. This includes a review of your health and medical history, exercise habits, lifestyle, and BMI. Once our team reviews this information, we will work together to customize the best weight loss plan that works for your personal goals. We consider all information about our patients when designing their program, including physical limitations, chronic conditions, and medications. One-size-fits-all does not work for weight loss, so our approach is personalized through multiple sessions.

Nutrition and Lifestyle Assessments

Our dietitians conduct nutritional assessments to collect and interpret information regarding your eating and lifestyle habits. This assessment gathers body composition (weight in muscle vs stored fat) and data regarding your medical history, any current treatments, food security, and regular dietary practices. The results are crucial for determining the nature of your weight loss plan.

Individual Goal Setting

You may not know where to start with your weight loss journey, and that’s okay. Our professionally trained team offers goal guidance to help you set realistic expectations. Our recommendations are based on your assessment results and lifestyle considerations, such as medication and accessibility.

Tips for Healthier Eating Habits

A healthier lifestyle contributes a large portion to the success of your weight loss. Our team of dietitians offers professional guidance for several topics, including:

  • Easy meal planning
  • Portion control
  • Coping with emotional eating
  • Eating out
  • Managing hunger and appetite
  • Ways to get you moving and more active
Appointments are available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

An initial consultation visit with the Registered Dietitian is required and usually takes 1 hour. The cost for this consultation is $73. Any desired follow-up visits are offered for an additional $51 and are usually 30 minutes.
