What is the Oak Award?

The Oak Award recognizes any clinical employees who consistently deliver high-quality, compassionate patient care and who go above and beyond in their daily practice to support patients, families, and fellow team members.

Like the oak tree, strong, resilient, and deeply rooted, this award honors individuals who serve as a steady foundation at the point of care. It celebrates those who demonstrate clinical excellence, sound judgment, and commitment to safety, quality outcomes, and evidence-based practice, while upholding the mission, values, and core competencies of NGHS.

What is a clinical team member in a healthcare system?

Clinical team members are healthcare professionals who provide direct, hands-on care to patients. These individuals support your health, safety, and comfort throughout your care experience.

You will likely see and interact with many clinical team members during your visit. They may include nurses, therapists, technicians, and other licensed or certified professionals.

Clinical team members may:

  • Provide hands-on care and support during your stay or visit
  • Administer medications and treatments as part of your care plan
  • Monitor your condition and communicate updates to your care team
  • Answer questions and help you understand what to expect during your care
  • Assist with testing, recovery, mobility, breathing, or other therapy needs

They play a central role in ensuring you receive safe, high-quality, and compassionate care.
