These units are staffed 24 hours a day with a team of highly skilled clinicians including:
- Board certified/Board eligible neonatologists
- Experienced neonatal nurses and nurse practitioners
- Neonatal respiratory therapists
- Clinical pharmacists
- Physical therapists
- Occupational therapists
- Speech language pathologists
- Case managers
Recovery & Discharge
Our practitioners offer high quality medical care with the goal of a speedy recovery so that babies can go home and be with their families. Before babies are discharged, parents are encouraged to stay overnight in one of our special parent-infant rooms, adjacent to the special care nurseries. There, parents can become accustomed to the special needs of their baby and feel comfortable caring for their child, with the assurance that our staff is close by.
Peer Recovery Support in the NICU
Keeping families together through supporting mom’s wellness and recovery.
NGMC offers one of the nation’s only NICU Peer Recovery Programs – an initiative that offers additional support and resources to mothers who are in or are seeking recovery from substance use disorder. With a focus on respectful compassion, staff and leaders at NGMC have done a tremendous amount of work to implement evidence-based practices in the clinical setting and education to mothers, while at the same time, building a culture of hope and recovery for its families at need.
