NGMC is a nationally recognized women's hospital dedicated to delivering a healthy and happy future. We've delivered more than 36,000 babies and treated over 6,000 newborns in our NICU since the opening of our Women & Children's Pavilion 10 years ago.

Everything you need & want

Northeast Georgia Medical Center has been delivering babies for more than 50 years.  Our priority is Mother/Baby Care. This ensures mothers will be able to actively participate in caring for their newborn during the hospital visit. We also prioritize mother and baby bonding, allowing you to have your baby in the room with you as much as you’d like.

Perfect places for precious moments

We understand the need for peace and quiet during your stay and have made extra effort to reduce any unnecessary noise. Even our housekeeping equipment is especially low decibel rated in order to keep things quiet.

Nice & Cozy

The comfort and safety of our families is our highest priority. Our labor and delivery units are "locked units," meaning only those who are needed or given permission are allowed to enter. Visitors must check in with security before entering. As an additional level of protection for our babies, we use the CUDDLES infant security system, which features a soft, self-adjusting band that attaches to the infant's ankle for assured rest.

Nationally Recognized Hospital for Women

Northeast Georgia Medical Center has been rated Georgia’s #1 Women’s Hospital for three consecutive years by CareChex, an independent healthcare ratings agency. When you choose NGMC for your hospital birth, you are choosing the best care and best physicians in the state, and among the very best in the nation.

Visiting Guidelines

Prior to your delivery, let family and friends know about the hospital's visitation guidelines. Also, because our mothers labor and deliver in the same room, it is beneficial to make a list of those you want present during the delivery, and communicate that to family and friends now.

Labor & Delivery
Women in labor may receive a total of five visitors at any one time (this includes the baby's father and any children). Please check in and out as visitors change. For c-section patients, only one adult support person is allowed in the OR and in the PACU recovery area.

Antepartum
Visitors are welcome, but only one adult is allowed to spend the night.

Triage
Due to limited space, only two visitors are allowed at a time.

Post-Delivery
Visitors are welcome, and one adult is allowed to spend the night in the room with the mother.

NICU
Parents are encouraged to visit as much as possible. Parents may designate up to four people who may visit without parents' presence for the duration of the hospital stay. Visitors are limited to two at the bedside due to space.

Child Visitation

Children are welcome to visit when accompanied by an adult. Children may not be left unattended and should not be sick or have had a recent exposure to a communicable disease, especially chicken pox. NICU: Siblings of the infant are allowed in the NICU, but must be age 12 or older and be up-to-date on all vaccines. Visitation time shoudl be based on the child's age and ability to sit still in a small space. Note: Only children age 15 and older are permitted to visit during RSV season (October through April).
