Heart-Healthy Recipe: Cranberry Turkey Cocktail Meatballs with Low Sodium Turkey Gravy

Are you looking for a delicious heart-healthy recipe for your next holiday gathering? Look no further! Byron HarrelNGMC’s Executive Chef, created a cranberry turkey cocktail meatball with low-sodium turkey gravy, that is both tasty and approved for heart failure patients.

Overview
Ingredients 
  • 1 cup oats ground in the food processor
  • 2 tbsp oats ground in the food processor
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 lb extra lean ground turkey
  • ½ cup mushrooms ground in the food processor
  • ¼ cup onion finely minced
  • ¼ cup dried cranberries finely minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh sage finely minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh rosemary finely minced
  • ¼ tsp pepper
Directions
  • Preheat your oven to 400 F and lightly grease a baking sheet with spray.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine ground oats and almond milk, mixing until the milk has been absorbed.
  • Add in the turkey, ground mushrooms, onion, cranberries, sage, rosemary, salt, and pepper.
  • Roll into 1-inch balls and place them on the baking sheet.
  • Bake for about 20 minutes or until golden brown and cooked to 165 F.

  • Serve the meatballs with toothpicks and the gravy for dipping or drizzle gravy over meatballs with toothpicks on the side.
