The Medical Center Foundation Welcomes New President and Chief Development Officer

Published: Thursday, June 14, 2018

The Medical Center Foundation has a new president and chief development officer (CDO). The philanthropic arm of Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS) recently appointed Christopher Bray to lead the organization’s fundraising and business development efforts, where he’ll build upon the legacy created by former president and CDO Nancy Colston who retired after more than 20 years of service. Bray and his wife Molly, a native of northern Atlanta, have two teenage children.

“My family and I are excited to become part of this community and the NGHS family,” said Bray. “As a nationally respected and awarded organization, I’m impressed by the Health System’s core values and mission of improving the health of the community in all we do. The success that The Medical Center Foundation and its team of volunteers have experienced over the years has truly set the stage for growth, and I’m fortunate to have this opportunity to build on the solid foundation already established to enhance patient care.”

Prior to his new position at The Medical Center Foundation, Bray served as associate vice president of development at the University of South Florida (USF) Foundation, where he managed the major gifts development programs for his alma mater. He has also served as director of development and major gifts at the Tampa General Hospital Foundation, where he redesigned the hospital’s employee giving campaign and led successful fundraising initiatives for the hospital’s palliative care and transplant programs. He has worked in various development roles for large organizations in Tennessee and Georgia, including the University of Tennessee Medical Center and American Heart Association.

“Chris has an impressive track record, not only in exceeding fundraising goals, but also in training, mentoring and coaching employees in fundraising best practices,” said Carol Burrell, president and CEO of NGHS. “As the landscape of modern healthcare continues to change and the needs of our patient population continue to grow, we believe a dynamic leader who has a history of successful fundraising will be the key to exceeding the expectations of the community we serve. We are excited to welcome Chris and watch The Medical Center Foundation continue to flourish.”
