The Heart Center of Northeast Georgia Medical Center Welcomes New Cardiologist

Georgia’s #1 Heart Hospital has a new cardiologist. Albert B. Mercer, MD, FACC, joined The Heart Center of Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) today and is accepting patients at the Toccoa and Lavonia locations.

“I’m pleased to join this group of cardiologists in Georgia who are recognized as some of the top heart specialists in the country,” said Dr. Mercer. “Their dedication to providing expert, comprehensive care using state-of-the-art technology and techniques is clear, and I look forward to providing the same great care to patients in Northeast Georgia.”

Dr. Mercer received his medical degree from the University of Louisville in Kentucky. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, N.C., and fellowship in Clinical Cardiology at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, N.C. Board-certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease, Dr. Mercer has served on the Board of Directors for a variety of health systems and foundations, and as governor for the American College of Cardiology in Kentucky.
