About the V.C. and Mary Puckett Family

The Puckett Center for Spiritual Care was made possible through generous gifts donated to the NGHS Foundation by The V.C. and Mary A. Puckett Foundation.

During their sixty-year marriage, V.C. and Mary Puckett, lived by the values of faith, humility, kindness, service, stewardship and love. Through the riches in which God blessed their lives, they have created a legacy that provides healthcare excellence for the people of northeast Georgia for generations to come.

“Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord and he shall lift you up”

James 4:10

V.C. served as a guardian of this nation’s freedom and liberty with the United States Army after graduating from the United States Army Officer Candidates School until he was honorably discharged with the rank of First Lieutenant.  During this time, Mary had a successful career as an executive secretary for several businesses. Together, the Pucketts owned Gainesville Iron Works from 1961 to 1995, during which time the business grew from a local steel supply firm to one with product and service distribution throughout the Southeast; they also owned Power Cranes, Inc.

They inspired many through their ideals, morals, and their deep concern for their fellow citizens. The devotion and understanding which they demonstrated to their family, friends, and church was admired by others. Leading by the example they made of their lives, they have made this world a better place in which to live.
