Hospice of NGMC Earns 5-Star Rating for Quality of Care

Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) has earned a 5-star rating in the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) Hospice Survey, the highest rating available through the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ Care Compare program.

The CAHPS Hospice Survey measures the experiences of hospice patients and their families, evaluating areas such as communication, symptom management, emotional support and overall satisfaction with care. Results are publicly reported through CMS Care Compare, allowing families to compare hospice providers based on patient and caregiver experiences.

Hospice of NGMC provides compassionate end-of-life care and support for patients with life-limiting illnesses, as well as guidance and resources for their families and caregivers. The program uses MatrixCare, formerly Healthcare First, to administer patient and family surveys. In 2024, Hospice of NGMC earned Hospice Honors Elite recognition from MatrixCare, placing the program among the top 5% of hospice providers nationwide.

“This 5-star rating is a testament to the unwavering commitment and passion of our hospice team,” said John Neidenbach, Hospital Administrator for NGMC Barrow. “Their work goes beyond clinical excellence to provide compassionate, dignified care and meaningful support for patients and families during some of life’s most challenging moments.”

“This recognition reflects the trust families place in us and the dedication our team brings to every patient we serve,” said Natalie McNeal, Director of Hospice and In-Home Palliative Care. “We are honored to help patients and loved ones navigate their journey with comfort, respect and compassion.”
