A local tragedy is leading to positive change that will keep people safer at Barrow County’s local hospital.
Starting May 29, 2025, patients and visitors will be able to enter Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) Barrow’s front entrance from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Those seeking care or visiting loved ones in the hospital after those hours and on weekends will enter through the Emergency Department, where they will receive a visitor badge from the hospital’s security team.
“In light of the tragic shooting at Apalachee High School last year, we took time to review our security measures,” said John Neidenbach, hospital administrator for NGMC Barrow. “It is important for our patients to have family and friends visit while they are here, and the new process will help us keep everyone in our facility safe.”
