NGHS earns national award for supply chain management

A good healthcare supply chain team ensures there are enough medical supplies, equipment and pharmaceuticals for patients to get the care they need, when they need it – and a national expert says Northeast Georgia Health System’s (NGHS) team is among the most forward-thinking in the nation.

NGHS is one of only two health systems in the state, and one of just 56 healthcare groups across the nation, to be named to Global Healthcare Exchange’s (GHX) 2024 Millennium Club.

“Our supply chain team works tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure everything runs seamlessly, and this recognition is a true testament to that,” said Kevin Phelps, vice president of Supply Chain Management for NGHS. “Our goal is to always make sure our teams have what they need to focus on what matters most – our patients. And by streamlining our supply chain through technology, we’re making that process more reliable for decades to come.”

The Millenium Club recognizes healthcare providers and suppliers who are improving patient care by using digital means to automate more than one million supply chain transactions each year.

“Not only does this automation translate to making better use of our supply chain team’s time, it also emphasizes our focus on error prevention by ensuring we’re never without essential supplies we need to take care of every patient we see,” said Brian Steines, chief financial officer for NGHS.
