5 ways you can give back to NGHS

NGHS is growing and as we grow, we impact more and more lives in our communities with the healthcare services we provide. You can play a role in helping us reach and benefit others!

Here are five ways you can give back:

1. Volunteer Your Time

If you’ve ever spent any time in our facilities, you have likely encountered one of the many volunteers who keep NGHS thriving.

There’s a volunteer opportunity for anyone age 15 and older, with programs for teens, college students, and adults.

Getting started is as simple as filling out the volunteer interest form.

2. Make a Gift Today

If you have the capacity to give financially, there are many ways to donate through the NGHS Foundation. You can make a one-time donation or set up a recurring donation on the website, or donate in honor of a caregiver through the Grateful Patient Program. If you have the capacity to do so, you can even make a transformational gift to impact the lives of others for years and even decades to come.

3. Plan for a Contribution Later

Beyond making a donation now, you can also include NGHS in your estate planning with a planned gift. Not exactly sure how you’d like to proceed or the best way to make plans? The Life Stage Gift Planner™ can help you create financial strategies based on your age and stage of life. You can make plans to donate through a bequest in your will or living trust.

With careful planning, you may be able to increase the size of your estate and decrease your tax burden while giving generously to the Northeast Georgia Health System Foundation.

4. Apply for a Rural Hospital Tax Deferral

The Rural Hospital Tax Credit program in the state of Georgia allows you to receive a 100% state income tax credit for contributing to a designated Rural Hospital Organization (RHO), such as Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) Lumpkin. NGMC Lumpkin was identified in a 2023 study as the second highest ranking hospital in terms of financial need out of all RHOs in the state.

You can apply to receive up to a $5,000 state tax credit as an individual or $10,000 state tax credit for a married couple filing jointly. Organizations are also eligible for varying levels of tax credits. There are specific requirements for the tax credit. Learn more about the details of the program, then apply using this application.

5. Shop for a Good Cause

The next time you need to shop for a gift for a loved one, do some window shopping. We don’t mean perusing the windows at the local mall, though—we mean finding the perfect gift for your friend or family member in one of our Window Shops, located near the front entrances at NGMC Gainesville and NGMC Braselton, or online.

You can find the gift you need for a loved one (or yourself) and benefit the health system at the same time. All proceeds are donated by the NGHS Auxiliary to NGHS.

You can make healthy tomorrows a reality for those in our community. Learn more about how you can help—and take steps to get started.
