Additional Plans & Insurance

Other Medicare Advantage PPO

If you have a Medicare Advantage PPO that is not listed under our NGHS contracted plans, as a courtesy NGHS will bill the plan as a non-participating provider.  This includes retirees with State Health Benefit Plan (SHBP), insured by Blue Cross Blue Shield and United Healthcare for the 2019 plan benefit year.  SHBP retirees can still access NGHS facilities and providers without penalty.  For benefit information, please call SHBP (contact numbers found here) or call United Healthcare.

Medicare Supplement Insurance

NGHS accepts all forms of Medicare Supplement insurance. Sometimes referred to as Medigap insurance, a Medicare Supplement works in conjunction with Original Medicare. Medicare Supplements provide coverage that is secondary to Medicare, helping to insure the approximate 20% of healthcare expenses not covered by Original Medicare. Medicare Supplements generally do not include a prescription drug plan, so beneficiaries wanting coverage for medications will need to purchase a stand-alone Medicare Prescription Drug plan.
