Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS) named Hong Vuong, who works in the South Patient Tower Cafeteria at Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) Gainesville, its 2016 Employee of the Year during the second of three events this week to recognize long-tenured employees for their service.
“More than once, Hong has been described as the nicest person that works in this organization,” said Carol Burrell, president and CEO of NGHS. “When she is not on the register with a customer, she is busy cleaning stations or helping visitors with their selections. She is never one to stand around.”
Vuong joined NGHS in 2009, and was recognized as Employee of the Month for July of 2015. Vuong and her husband David have two children, Daniel and Michelle. Daniel currently attends Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, majoring in aerospace engineering as well as being a midshipman in their ROTC program. Michelle is a current senior at Gainesville High School and plans on attending Embry-Riddle this fall, majoring in Electrical Engineering.
“Our mother taught us to reach for the stars and have a drive that never stops,” says Vuong’s son, Daniel. “There is no doubt that this award is wholeheartedly deserved, and that she exemplifies those traits in what she does.”
During all three Service Award Banquets this week, NGHS recognized a total of 604 employees for their tenure:
- 282 for five years of service
- 226 employees for 10-15 years of service
- 96 employees for 20-40 years of service.
