At Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC), we help patients manage their heart health and lead fulfilling lives–even for those with advanced stages of the disease.
Many patients with heart failure can maintain their quality of life with therapies prescribed by our advanced heart failure specialists. NGMC offers Advanced Heart Failure Services to inpatients at our hospital campuses in Gainesville, Braselton and Winder, and to outpatients through The Heart Center of NGMC in Gainesville and Braselton.
Advantages at NGMC
The Heart Center of NGMC performs more than 9,000 cardiac procedures each year and treats more than 45,000 patients yearly.
Our physicians are fellowship-trained in advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology. Each provider possesses extensive medical training for cardiovascular care and specialized expertise in heart failure. We participate in research studies and clinical trials for heart failure, ensuring that our physicians are up-to-date on the latest advancements and our patients are receiving the best care.
Our 16-bed unit is designed for patient and family comfort and is staffed with specially trained staff.
We provide at no charge, in-home telemonitoring service that checks on the patient and provides resources for care.
Located in Gainesville and Braselton, this outpatient service is prescribed by a physician for the patient when there is too much fluid for the heart to pump effectively.
CardioMEMS, an implanted device available through The Heart Center of NGMC, provides a new way of monitoring newly diagnosed patients.
For patients whose hearts are severely weakened, a left ventricular assist device, or LVAD, may be a treatment option. An LVAD is a surgically-implanted, battery-operated pump that helps the left ventricle of the heart pump blood to the body.
