Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBO)
Hyperbaric Oxygen therapy (HBO), is a painless way to help your body heal, especially for wounds that have lingered for more than 30 days. HBO is a medical treatment that increases the amount of oxygen that is in the patient's blood. HBO chambers surround the patient with 100 percent oxygen at a higher than normal atmospheric pressure, supporting new small vessel growth and allowing oxygen to pass more easily through the plasma into the wounds to heal them.
Indications for HBO therapy include: Acute peripheral arterial
- Chronic refractory osteomyelitis
- Diabetic foot ulcers
- Gas gangrene
- Preparation or preservation of skin grafts
- Progressive necrotizing infections
- Soft tissue radiation injury
