About the program

We are proud to offer one of only four ANCC-accredited Practice Transition Programs in the state of Georgia. Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS) invites you to become part of our RN Residency Program. It is a structured 12-month program for licensed registered nurses with less than one year of experience as a RN.

At NGHS, our RN Residency Program is more than just a transition—it’s an exciting journey from student nurse to confident, skilled professional.     Training

    This program supports your transition into professional nursing practice through:

    • 12-24 weeks of orientation with a dedicated preceptor
    • Mentors, nurse managers and nurse coordinators
    • Use of our state-of-the-art simulation labs
    • Quarterly seminars
    • Didactic learning

    Support

    Our goal is to provide multiple sources of support throughout the year-long program, which include:

    • Peer mentor to help transition into the program
    • Residency Program nurse manager
    • Residency Program nurse coordinator
    • Unit support including nurse manager, assistant nurse manager and unit educator

    Eligibility

    • Graduated from an accredited RN program
    • Current Georgia RN license before start of program
    • Current AHA BLS certifications
