Participants of the January 2007 Prepared Childbirth class at Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) held a reunion recently.

Parents who had participated in the class leading up to the birth of their child had the opportunity to see each other again and meet each others’ new children. The reunion took place at the Essentially for Women building, located at 825-A Jesse Jewell Parkway in Gainesville.

NGMC offers a variety of classes to help families prepare for the birth of a new baby. The Prepared Childbirth class can be taken as two Saturday sessions or five Tuesday evening sessions. The class includes a tour of NGMC’s OB unit and covers topics including the role of a labor coach, breathing and relaxation techniques, pain management procedures, information about breastfeeding and more.

Other classes offered include Newborn Parenting, Family and Friends CPR, Breastfeeding, a Siblings class to prepare the big brother or sister for baby’s arrival, and a free car seat safety class.

Registration information about all birthing and parenting classes can be found at or call (770)535-3357 for more information.
