History has been made at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, as the Gainesville hospital’s first-ever set of quadruplets has been born. Julie Davidson delivered her four daughters Saturday, hospital spokeswoman Kristin Grace spokeswoman confirmed.
The hospital posted the announcement on its Facebook page, saying, “Congratulations to the Davidson family. We are all so proud to be a part of your experience!”
NGMC shared the family’s post on its page, which says the mother and babies are doing well.
The post, which features a picture of each baby, goes on to say the girls weighed in at between 2 pounds 6 ounces and 3 pounds and 2 ounces. Their daughters are McKenna Emory, Teagan Kate, Callie Noel and Sawyer Claire.
The babies “are all where they’re supposed to be medically for 30.3 weeks,” according to the family’s post. The Davidsons are asking for no visitors “for now, so we can spend time together as a family.”
Julie and Justin Davidson, who live in Banks County near the Hall line, first learned this summer she was having quadruplets after she went to the hospital’s emergency room suffering from back pains. An ultrasound and other tests revealed the four babies, and Justin has been ecstatic ever since.
“She was crying and I was like, ‘This is going to be awesome, like super fun,’” Justin said in an interview earlier this month, recalling the couple’s first chat after the discovery.
Julie has been on bed rest at the hospital’s Women and Children’s Pavilion since Dec. 8, with Justin working during the day at his family’s Banks County wood mill and spending nights at the hospital. The hospital staff, meanwhile, has been busy, holding a mock delivery at one point and otherwise preparing for the historic arrival.
“This is exciting,” said her obstetrician, Dr. Holt Harrison. “For the provider, there’s always a bit of nerves involved. You just want to be certain that everything goes well.”
Northeast Georgia Medical Center has had 369 sets of twins and four sets of triplets since 2010, spokeswoman Kristin Grace said. “There was a set (of quadruplets) born at Hall County Hospital in 1944, prior to the hospital becoming NGMC,” she said.
