Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) Barrow’s Medical Laboratory is now accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) Accreditation.

“We take pride in providing quality service to our patients,” says Chad Hatfield, president of NGMC Barrow. “I am also appreciative of all the hard work that our Laboratory staff has put in to make this accreditation possible.”

In order to receive accreditation, NGMC Barrow’s Lab underwent a detailed review by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) which is a member-based physician organization founded in 1946 comprising of approximately 18,000 board-certified pathologists. It serves patients, pathologists, and the public by fostering and advocating best practices in pathology and laboratory medicine.

“This accreditation is the ‘gold standard’ of laboratory accreditation,” says Adam Davis, MT (ASCP), Laboratory Manager at NGMC Barrow. “It helps ensure that laboratory services for the Barrow medical community are performed by a safe and properly functioning laboratory.”
