Brest of Friends NICU Support Group

Breastfeeding can be a challenging task, but it is the best choice for the mother and baby. Breast milk is most easily tolerated and often the preferred source of nutrition for premature and sick infants. This support group offers mothers of NICU babies a time and place to connect and discuss breastfeeding-related issues not only with other mothers, but with the guidance of a board certified lactation consultant.

When: The second and fourth Monday of each month

Time: 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Where: Northeast Georgia Medical Center South Entrance (ground floor of the Women & Children’s Pavilion)

NICU Training Room 743 Spring Street Gainesville, GA 30501

Discussion topics are flexible, but may include:

  • Kangaroo care
  • Differences between nutritive and non-nutritive nursing
  • Pumping
  • Milk supply concerns
