Anthony Williamson Named President of Northeast Georgia Medical Center Braselton

Published: Thursday, July 31, 2014

Anthony Williamson has been named president of Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) Braselton, according to an announcement from Carol Burrell, president and CEO of Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS).  In this role, Williamson will oversee all operations of the new 100-bed hospital, set to open in Braselton in spring 2015.

Williamson joined NGHS in 2005 as vice president of Professional Services, with leadership responsibilities for laboratory, imaging, respiratory therapy and post-acute rehabilitation services.  In 2010, Williamson was named NGHS’ vice president of Service Line and Greater Braselton Development.  In this role, he has been responsible for the strategic planning and operations for the heart and vascular, oncology, imaging and neurosciences service lines; the development of the NGMC Braselton hospital and medical campus; and expansion of services in the Braselton market.

“Anthony has had oversight responsibility for numerous areas within NGHS which has given him a wealth of knowledge about our System’s operations and strategic direction,” says Burrell.  “As the point person directing the construction of NGMC Braselton, Anthony is  intimately involved with each detail leading to the opening of this significant new hospital while also leading strategic development of services in that area.  His ability to effectively manage and deliver multiple high-level initiatives has greatly impressed me, and I am so pleased to see him take the helm of this pinnacle facility for NGHS.”

Williamson continues to report to Burrell, who is president and CEO of the hospital’s parent company, Northeast Georgia Health System.  The Health System is also currently recruiting for a new president of Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.

Williamson is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.  He and his wife, Stephanie, live in Hoschton with their daughter.

“It is an honor and a privilege for me to move into this new role in Braselton,” says Williamson.  “I live in this area, so this is also my community hospital, and I take an extra level of pride in the state-of-the-art facility and care plan we have developed in this area.  We are excited to open NGMC Braselton’s doors to the community next spring.”
