This wound care service uses state-of-the-art techniques to help patients with wounds that are slow to heal or are not healing properly. Many of these patients are diabetics. Others suffer from circulatory disease or are immobile, which can lead to "bed sores" or pressure ulcers which require special care. Additionally, the WHC offers ostomy services to care for patients who have had surgery to add ostomies following gastrointestinal or genitourinary tract disease. A highly specialized team of professionals works with each patient's private physician to develop an individualized plan of care. With surgical lighting and space for patient education, the WHC also offers contact castings to relieve wound pressure, fittings for containment devices, urology services including biofeedback, e-stem and urodynamics, and other traditional wound care services. The WHC is also proud to offer Hyperbaric Oxygen therapy (HBO), a painless way to help your body heal, especially wounds that have lingered for more than 30 days. HBO is a medical treatment that increases the amount of oxygen that is in the patient’s blood. HBO chambers surround patient with 100 percent oxygen at a higher than normal atmospheric pressure, allowing oxygen to pass more easily through the plasma into the wounds to heal them. For more information, talk to your doctor or call the WHC at 678-343-4963.
