The Nurseline is a free telephone triage service in which registered nurses guide callers in making decisions about seeking care. The Nurseline is staffed by a registered nurse 9 a.m. – 1 a.m. seven days a week. Here's how it works:
- When the nurse receives a call, she asks the caller a series of questions to gain specific information about the person’s inquiry.
- The information is entered into a computer database of national physician-approved medical protocols.
- Based on the answers entered, the nurse can provide advice, information and guidance for the caller.
