Northeast Georgia Medical Center Receives Another National Accolade

Northeast Georgia Medical Center has been named to the Becker’s Hospital Review 2013 annual list of “100 Great Hospitals.”
According to Becker’s Hospital Review, “Each of these organizations have an interesting story behind them, some dating back to the 18th century, and contribute to the American healthcare landscape, whether they be community hospitals or academic medical centers, large flagship facilities or small specialty hospitals. These organizations continually improve upon themselves and are innovators for medical treatments, research, technology and care delivery. These hospitals are home to medical breakthroughs and act as anchors of health within their respective communities.”
To develop this list, the Becker's Hospital Review editorial team accepted nominations, conducted research and considered other reputable hospital ranking sources such as U.S. News & World Report, Truven Health Analytics’ 100 Top Hospitals, Healthgrades, Magnet Recognition by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, the Studer Group and Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award recipients.
This is the third national recognition NGMC has received in the last two months. In February, NGMC was named one of America’s 50 Best Hospitals by Healthgrades®, an award given to hospitals with the lowest mortality and complication rates in the country for a minimum of seven years. One week later, NGMC was named one of the nation’s 100 Top Hospitals® by Truven Health Analytics, formerly the healthcare business of Thomson Reuters. This recognition was based on performance over a three-to-five-year period in 10 different areas including mortality, complications, patient safety, readmission rates and patient satisfaction.
“To be named yet again to a list of top hospitals in the country is extremely gratifying and further evidence that our staff and physicians are some of the very best,” says Carol H. Burrell, President and CEO of Northeast Georgia Health System. “The true winners, however, are our patients who have to look no farther than Gainesville to access one of the best healthcare teams in America.”
