Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS) has purchased the former Moto 400 building, located at 108 Prominence Court in Dawsonville, which faces Hwy 400, just north of the intersection with Hwy. 53. NGHS plans to renovate this 23,000 square foot building and develop a multi-purpose medical office building to serve the growing healthcare needs of the residents of Dawsonville and the surrounding areas. NGHS expects the building to open no later than first quarter 2013.
The Northeast Georgia Physicians Group (NGPG) Dawsonville practice, currently located at 45 Medical Center Drive in Dawsonville and an affiliate of NGHS, will relocate to this building, giving the practice an opportunity to expand and also develop its cutting-edge medical home model. The medical home model, known as Patient-Centered Care Management or PCCM, is a promising model of healthcare delivery that aims to improve the overall quality and efficiency of care provided by primary care physicians. The PCCM model focuses on better access to care, improved clinical outcomes – particularly for chronic conditions, and increased patient satisfaction. NGPG has received national recognition through the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) for two of its current practices, and was in fact only the third medical practice in the state of Georgia to achieve this recognition at the time of the initial award. The group is currently in the process of pursuing this award for its other locations, including Dawsonville.
“We are excited to bring all of our Northeast Georgia Physicians Group primary care practices, including NGPG Dawsonville, into this new medical home model,” says Paul Vervalin, President and Chief Administrative Officer for NGPG and Vice President of Physician Services at NGHS. “This type of patient care coordination and disease state management is paramount as we move into a new era of health care delivery, and we are pleased to be able to offer this level of care management to our patients in the Dawsonville community and all the communities we serve throughout the northeast Georgia region.”
While plans are still evolving, NGHS expects additional services in that building to include tenant space for physician specialists offering various medical specialty services and ancillary services such as outpatient imaging and lab services.
“Northeast Georgia Medical Center serves a large patient base from Dawsonville and surrounding communities, and we see that patient base expanding as the area grows,” says Tracy Vardeman, Vice President of Strategic Marketing and Planning at NGHS. “This new medical office building will give us a platform to expand services to meet the needs of this growing community and offer access to NGHS’ award-winning services close to home.”
