Northeast Georgia Health System Again Named One of Metro Atlanta's Top 100 Workplaces

April 23, 2012
4/23/12

GAINESVILLE, Ga. – Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS) is one of “Metro Atlanta’s Top 100 Workplaces” for a second consecutive year according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution (AJC).  NGHS also made the inaugural list in 2011.

More than 1,000 companies were nominated or asked to participate in the 2012 contest conducted by the AJC and its partner, Workplace Dynamics.  Workplace Dynamics then surveyed more than 43,500 employees from finalist companies.

Each company was graded using employees’ responses to several questions about factors such as work conditions, management, pay and benefits, and career paths.  The resulting list consists of 20 large companies (more than 500 employees), 30 midsize companies (150 – 499 employees) and 50 small (149 or fewer employees).  With more than 4,500 employees, NGHS was honored to place 12out of the 20 large companies selected.

On its website, the AJC highlights some of the narrative comments from the NGHS employee surveys:

  • “I am able to balance work and home life while being able to have a successful career that provides for growth.”
  • “They care deeply about the organization and the people that work here.”
  • “The confidence of knowing I have a good, stable job and I've always been treated well.”
  • “Everyone in my department works well together and works hard. We are very proud of our department and the great things that we do. Patient care and safety is number one!”

“It’s a tremendous honor be named one of ‘Metro Atlanta’s Top 100 Workplaces’ and even more gratifying to make the list two years in a row,” says Carol Burrell, President and CEO of NGHS.  “We’ve worked hard during the past year to continue engaging employees on an individual level – through unique initiatives like ‘town hall’ events which allow employees to speak directly to senior administration, performance improvement projects that give staff a chance to implement their ideas to directly impact patient satisfaction and one-on-one meetings to strengthen relationships between employees and direct supervisors – and this distinction is evidence that those efforts are making a difference.”
