Northeast Georgia Health System is pleased to announce the appointment of Oladimeji Samson Akiode, MD, FACP as the Hospitalist Medical Director of Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) Barrow. Dr. Akiode oversees delivery of inpatient medical care at the hospital.
“We are excited that Dr. Akiode is the Medical Director here” said Dr. Suhel Patel, Medical Director and Chair, Inpatient Medicine, Northeast Georgia Physicians Group. “Dr. Akiode’s appointment brings in medical oversight to monitor quality care at Barrow. It also provide consistency in leadership and help with implementation of evidence based patient treatment practices”.
Dr. Akiode is Board certified in Internal Medicine as well as Advanced Cardiac Life Support. He has over 26 years of experience in hospital settings and has served on a wide variety of hospital Committees and Boards. Before joining NGMC Barrow, Dr. Akiode was the Chief, Department of Medicine at Trinity Clinic in Texas. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine/Primary Care Program from North General Hospital, NY and his Department of Surgery residency from North General Hospital, NY.

Dr. Akiode has already traveled through our community to get to know many of our community-based providers. It’s important for these physicians to know who is caring for their patients while they are admitted to the hospital and to work together as a team in the total care of our community residents”, said Chad Hatfield, President of Northeast Georgia Medical Center Barrow.
