The Bariatric Weight Loss Center at Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) is offering LIFESTEPS® – a non-surgical weight management program that includes 16 weeks of educational classes and 11 weeks of maintenance and follow-up with a registered dietitian.
Similar to other popular weight loss programs, LIFESTEPS® covers topics such as portion control, nutritional needs, physical activity and how to manage high-risk eating situations.
“What’s different about our program, is that our classes are lead by a registered dietitian who follows our participants through every step of the program,” says LoRita Shingleton, RN, CBN, NGMC’s bariatric program manager. “So participants get the best of both worlds: group sessions, which allow for support, guidance and accountability; and one-on-one meetings with the dietitian to discuss weight maintenance, plan adjustments and any concerns they want to address personally.”
“Our program recognizes that each person is unique – with different eating and exercise habits, weight loss goals and daily schedules,” says Leslie C. Davis, MS, RD, LD, CDE, registered dietitian with NGMC’s bariatric program and instructor of the LIFESTEPS® program. “We stress personal choice, responsibility and accountability – placing you in charge of your eating and activity behaviors. The best part about our program is it’s built to be tailored to fit your individual needs.”
Attend a free orientation session on September 26, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Spout Springs Library to learn more about the LIFESTEPS® program. Classes begin in Braselton on October 10 and require pre-registration.
