Published on November 10, 2010Jeffrey Marshall, MD, an interventional cardiologist with Northeast Georgia Heart Center (NGHC) and medical director of Cardiac Cath Labs at Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC), is featured in a new video about the benefits of angioplasy and stenting. The video was produced by The Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, which Dr. Marshall serves as Vice President.

The video also features former NGMC/NGHC patient, and 1973 Masters Champion, Tommy Aaron. Mr. Aaron came to NGMC in 2007 after suffering stomach pains while swinging clubs and exercising. Cardiologists ran several tests and discovered his left artery, often called the "widow maker" for its common involvement with massive heart attacks, was 85 percent blocked. They quickly used a stent to expand the artery and increase blood flow, which the Gainesville native says saved his life.
"I’ve traveled the world during my career, but it’s nice to know that the #1 heart hospital in the state is waiting when I come home to Gainesville," says Aaron. "Northeast Georgia Medical Center is great!"
Northeast Georgia Medical Center is Georgia's #1 Heart Hospital for the sixth year in a row, according to HealthGrades®. Learn more about NGMC's ratings by visiting www.nghs.com/heart-services.
