NGMC Implements Seasonal Children’s Visitation Restriction

GAINESVILLE, Ga. — To help minimize the risk of infection for patients during flu season, visitation of children ages 15 years and younger will be restricted on all inpatient units at Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC).  Restricted visitation will begin Friday, Dec. 3, and will be in effect until the infection risk subsides.

To accommodate patients in obstetric units, NGMC will allow well siblings of newborns to visit in their mother’s room only on the Labor and Delivery and Mother/Baby units.

"We regret any inconvenience this may cause patients, families and visitors, but we hope they understand that we must protect the safety of our patients," says Bette Meisch, RN,  Infection Control director at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
