Published on February 25, 2008Northeast Georgia Mended Hearts, Inc. will hold its next meeting in Hall County Tuesday, March 4, 2008 in the Walters Auditorium located at the main campus of Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC). Daniel Winston, MD, a surgeon with Peachtree Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, will be the featured speaker. The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the featured presentation scheduled for 6 p.m.
The group will also honor Gainesville resident Lillie Mae Green at the March meeting. Green and her late husband, Frank Green, made a $4 million donation from the estate of their late son, Ronnie Green, to fund the Ronnie Green Heart Center at NGMC.
"We want to thank her for the impact the Green family has had on not only Northeast Georgia Medical Center, but also the community as a whole, "says Mended Hearts President Peter Rocco.
Mended Hearts is a support organization that offers help and encouragement to heart disease patients and their families. The organization is composed of former heart procedure patients and their spouses, health professionals and other persons who are interested in helping people deal with emotional recovery from heart disease. Mended Hearts is available in more than 260 cities across the U.S.
Mended Hearts members can serve in two ways – they can either become an accredited member who visits other heart disease patients in the hospital, at home, via telephone or through the Internet, and/or they can become a supporting member who attends monthly support/education meetings.
