September 10, 2011GAINESVILLE, Ga. — Learn more about successfully managing diabetes at Diabetes 101. Sponsored by the American Diabetes Association, Northeast Georgia Diagnostic Clinic, Northeast Georgia Medical Center and The Longstreet Clinic, P.C., Diabetes 101 is scheduled for Saturday, September 10, at the Georgia Mountains Center in Gainesville. Programs will be held in both English and Spanish.
Area physicians, nurses, diabetes educators and dietitians will lead workshops on topics such as management of diabetes; healthy eating; preventing diabetes-related complications; cooking demonstrations; paying for diabetes care and much more.
Programs are designed for people with pre-diabetes, Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes and their family and friends. The sessions will take place throughout the day from 8:30 a.m. until 3 p.m., with breakfast and lunch included. The registration fee is $10 per person or $15 for two people; $15 per person after September 5. Full scholarships are available for those who qualify.
