GAINESVILLE, Ga. – Do you or a loved one struggle with high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, clogged arteries or other heart problems? If so, you may be one of more than five million Americans suffering from heart failure. Learn more about this fairly common, but often under recognized condition at a FREE Heart Failure Awareness Health Fair hosted by Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC):
• WHEN: Saturday, February 19
• TIME: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
• WHERE: Gainesville Civic Center
Clinical staff, including Brenda Hott, MD (of Northeast Georgia Heart Center), who is among the few physicians in the state certified in Advanced Heart Failure, will help you recognize the risk factors, signs and symptoms of heart failure. The fair will also feature a competition between local restaurants to create the best low-sodium dish, informational speakers, prize raffles and community resource booths.ABOUT NGMC’S HEART FAILURE PROGRAM
NGMC is home to the region’s only dedicated, inpatient Heart Failure Unit. The 13-bed unit is the base of operations for the Heart Failure Program, which Medicare data indicates has achieved better mortality and readmission rates than the national average (www.hospitalcompare.hhs.gov).
