Women and Children
Obstetric Services - Visiting Guidelines
Visiting Times
Patients may receive visitors during the hospital's normal visiting hours, 10 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. daily. Additionally, the mother may have one person spend the night after delivery.
Labor, Delivery & Recovery Rooms
Patients may receive up to 4 visitors (in addition to dad) in their rooms during normal visiting hours. Visitors should request an ID badge at the reception desk in the Women & Children's Pavilion, which will allow them access to the unit.
Mother/Baby Rooms
After delivery, mother and baby will move to the Mother/Baby unit, located on the second and third floors. Visitors are welcome during the hospital's normal visiting hours.
Family Waiting Room
A waiting area is located in the lobby of the Women & Children's Pavilion for visitors and patients in the Labor & Delivery unit. Waiting areas are located on the second and third floors for visitors of patients in the Mother/Baby unit.
Sibling Visitation
We encourage big brothers and sisters over the age of 2 to visit their new baby siblings. Brothers and sisters need to be accompanied by an adult, and visitation time should be limited according to the age of the child. For example, a younger child of age 2 probably would need to visit for only 30 minutes. For the health of your newborn, we ask that all visitors to the maternity center be free of fever, cough, diarrhea, runny nose, rash or any infectious disease such as chicken pox.
Special Care Nursery - Visiting Guidelines
Who May Visit
Any visitor should be accompanied by a parent. However, parents may designate up to 4 people (i.e., grandparents, aunts, uncles or other close friends) to show picture identification so they may visit anytime without the parents' immediate presence. These four designated people will have their names on the nursery visitation list for staff personnel to identify.
Visiting Times
Parents may visit their baby in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Intermediate Care (IC) nurseries at any time. However, 6:30 - 7:30 a.m. and 6:30 and 7:30 p.m., parents are asked to wait in the family waiting room while nurses are changing shifts. Parents are encouraged to visit and particiapte in their baby's care in the IC and NICU nurseries as much as possible depending on your baby's clinical condition. However, to protect the health of all nursery babies, please do not visit if you have symptoms of a cold or have recently been exposed to a contagious disease.
Sibling Visitation
Brothers and sisters over the age of 2 may visit their new baby sibling with a parent after the parents have arranged a specific time with the nurse for them to visit. Siblings between the ages of 2 and 6 should have their visits limited to 30 minutes or less. For the health of your newborn, be sure that children visitors are up-to-date on vaccinations and well that day. Any child that has been exposed to chicken pox in the last two weeks should not visit. Also, during RSV season (October - April), visitation is restricted to children age 15 and older.
Family Waiting Room
A family waiting room is avaialble for guests if the patient is unable to receive guests at the time of the visit.
