Northeast Georgia Medical Center's Bariatric Weight Loss Center offers a full range of weight loss services, both surgical and non-surgical.
Surgical Services
The Bariatric Weight Loss Center offers education and support services to patients undergoing
gastric bypass or lap-band surgery for morbid obesity. Our staff guides patients through the application, pre-operative, surgical and post-operative processes and provides medical history and testing evaluations, nutritional counseling and post-operative care and support services.
Northeast Georgia Medical Center has a dedicated Bariatrics nursing unit on its Lanier Park campus, located at 675 White Sulphur Road in Gainesville. This specially-designed unit has rooms equipped with beds, toilets, shower chairs, blood pressure cuffs, scales and transfer devices uniquely made to accommodate bariatric patients. In addition, staff members involved in bariatric surgery and post-operative patient care have undergone specialized training to ensure the highest quality of care for patients during their hospital stay.

Non-Surgical Services
Living Lighter
Living Lighter is a non-surgical weight loss program consisting of 12 weeks of classes led by a registered dietitian certified in adult weight management through the American Dietetic Association. Components of the program include:
* Weekly information and support sessions
* Personal Consultations with the dietitian
* Food journaling
After the program concludes, participants have the opportunity to continue:
* Periodic weigh ins
* Dietitian consultations
Participants can continue these services for an additional six months to support long-term success.
The cost of the program is $300. Support meetings are held each Monday from 5:30 to 7 p.m., in the Blue Ridge Room at the Lanier Park Campus. Call 678-343-4061 to register or for more information.
