NGMC Nurse Graduate Internship
ProgramThe Graduate Nurse
Internship Program at NGMC provides the new graduate nurse an
opportunity to:
- Be mentored
one-on-one by an experienced registered nurse
- Experience a
smooth transition from the student role to the registered nurse
role
- Develop new
clinical and technical skills
- Learn how to
prioritize and manage patient care needs
- Learn advanced
patient assessment skills
- Spend time in
related clinical areas such as surgical services as well as
other nursing ancillary departments
The first twelve
weeks of the internship will be held on Northeast Georgia Medical
Center’s Lanier Park Campus. During this time the intern will be
placed with an RN preceptor who will oversee the clinical component
of the program. Scheduled workshops will be provided through out the
program including such topics as:
- Advanced
Patient Assessment
- Pharmacology
- Wound Ostomy
Continence
- Med/Psych
Nursing
After the first six
weeks of the program, the intern will be provided a skills
evaluation. At that time Human Resources will assist the intern in
applying for permanent positions through out Northeast Georgia
Medical Center. The internship is a fully paid program with the new
nurse receiving benefits while preparing for the new role of
Registered Nurse.
