The Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association (BCBSA) has named Northeast Georgia Medical Center a Blue Distinction Center for bariatric surgery and cardiac care. The process used to select Blue Distinction Centers is based on clinical data from hospital registries. Each facility’s structure, processes and care outcomes are rigorously evaluated. These criteria include nationally endorsed quality measures, developed in collaboration with medical experts and professional organizations.

Northeast Georgia Medical Center’s (NGMC) Bariatric Weight Loss Center has been named a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence by the American Society for Bariatric Surgery (ASBS). The ASBS Center of Excellence designation recognizes surgical programs with a demonstrated track record of favorable outcomes in bariatric surgery.
