Accreditations: Imaging Services
MRI Services Accredited by the American College of Radiology
The American College of Radiology (ACR) has granted accreditation to Northeast Georgia Medical Center’s MRI services at The Imaging Center. The Imaging Center offers both open MRI and conventional MRI units. ACR accreditation signifies that a facility has met stringent guidelines for quality patient care. The accredited program must meet specific personnel qualifications and equipment requirements as well as demonstrate ongoing quality assurance. Imaging experts conducting the survey review actual patient images and/or treatment records during the evaluation. MRI accreditation is voluntary and demonstrates the commitment of the accredited center to maintaining ongoing quality.
Mammography Services Accredited by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
Northeast Georgia Medical Center’s mammography services recently received accreditation by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Service’s Public Health Service. Accreditation involved evaluation of all aspects of the service’s procedures and processes including film quality and technique, education of staff and physicians, interpretation of films, radiation safety and equipment maintenance and repair to ensure consistency of exposure and high quality exams. Random patient studies were selected for review and judged for overall quality and adherence to quality standards. The survey also examined procedures for patient follow-up.
