Since it began offering advanced cardiac surgical and interventional services in late 2002, Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) has received national recognition for excellent clinical outcomes. The exceptional quality of cardiac care provided at the NGMC continues to place the program among the top hospitals in the region, state and nation.
For the fourth year in a row (2006-2009), Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) has ranked #1 in Georgia and in the top 5% in the nation for cardiac care, according to the 11th annual HealthGrades Hospital Quality in America Study. Specifically, for 2009, NGMC is:
• #1 in GA for Overall Cardiac Services
• #1 in GA for Cardiac Surgery
• #1 in GA for Cardiology Services
• #1 in GA for Coronary Interventional Procedures
NGMC is one of only nine hospitals in the nation to rank #1 in all four cardiac categories.
In addition, the study found NGMC is five-star rated for:
• Coronary Bypass Surgery
• Valve Replacement Surgery
• Coronary Interventional Procedures
• Treatment of Heart Attacks
• Treatment of Heart Failure
The study also found patients admitted to the nation’s top performing (five-star rated) hospitals, like NGMC, are approximately 50 percent less likely to die compared to the national hospital average. Click here to learn more about the HealthGrades study and its findings.
Also, The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) announced NGMC has achieved STS' best quality rating: three stars. According to STS, the three-star rating means NGMC's performance ranked significantly higher than the mean performance of other STS member hospitals in 2007.
These ratings exemplify how NGHS provides exceptional cardiac care, close to home.
