What is Mended Hearts?

Mended Hearts is a nationwide support organization, affiliated with the American Heart Association, for individuals with heart disease, including persons recovering from heart attacks, angioplasty or open-heart surgery.

Members offer hope and encouragement to others by providing living proof that people with heart disease can lead full, productive lives.  Meetings are held once a month at the Medical Center, and family and friends are welcome to also attend the free meetings.

Who can be a Mended Hearts Volunteer?

Anyone who is a former heart patient or who is the spouse of a former heart patient may be a Mended Hearts volunteer.

What Does a Mended Hearts Volunteer Do?

Mended Hearts volunteers visit cardiac patients and their families before and after surgeries and help answer questions and concerns, offer hope and encouragement and share educational materials. 

Why Become a Mended Hearts Volunteer?

Mended Hearts volunteers are vital to the recovery process of cardiac patients, and the experience of supporting patients and their families is life enriching.

What is the Time Commitment?

Mended Hearts and the Volunteer Services department work one-on-one with volunteers and are flexible in developing a schedule to fit your lifestyle.

How do I Become a Mended Hearts Volunteer?
