Clinical Trials (Cancer Research)

Since 1996, Northeast Georgia Medical Center has been participating in cancer research trials and is currently a partner with a variety of research networks all across the country. By partnering with many different national oncology study groups, NGMC is able to offer a number of research trials to our patients, including trials for chemotherapy, radiation and surgical treatments, and trials for virtually all tumor sites including breast, lung and prostate cancers, three of the sites most often diagnosed in northeast Georgia. In fact, the Cancer Center received the 2007 American Society of Breast Surgeons Mammosite ®Registry Award in recognition of continued participation and outstanding contribution to the research of breast cancer.

By offering clinical trials to patients, the Cancer Center provides the very latest and best treatment options available. Most of the trials combine treatments that have proven effective in combination with perhaps an additional drug or a different drug dose. Many times, patients in trials may have the chance to receive a drug that has shown promise in smaller studies but is not yet commercially available.

The following is a list of disease sites for which cancer clinical trials are currently being conducted at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
